I started painting after a near-death experience in 2002 as a result of a car crash in which angels gave me a choice to stay or go. This initiation came with gifts; mediumship and the clairs, as they are affectionately called (clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, etc.), which I had been studying before the crash, were ultimately augmented. It was painting that I felt most drawn to after the accident, comforted as I was by the awareness of otherworldly guidance.
Artist Statement
Painting is my Edelweiss, a wild and sacred, deeply transformational affair—a conduit to the subconscious and the collective archetypal, Universal energies and mysteries. Painters Enid Braun in NYC in the early 1990’s, and Mel Prest and Yee-Jan Bao at CCA in Oakland and San Francisco, California were my primary teachers.
My paintings are a channeling of psychic visions enhanced by my lineage gifts as well as time spent at Aesclepion, the intuitive arts school founded by John Fulton, and most recently a series of medicinal journeys.
My Art and Spiritual Paths Meet
My life is my art, my art is my spiritual practice, and both inform my paintings and allow me greater facility with my personal, intuitive readings. I’m here to share all that resonates with you.
My creative process involves meditation, contemplation, rest, channeling my guides and letting them lead me, holding the painting in my mind’s eye as I go about my day. Often, the intuitive readings I offer clients and/or their animal companions dovetail into my creations.
My metaphysical explorations extend to Reiki II, shadow work, animal communication, archetypal mythology, dreamwork and, most recently, RRP Childhood Trauma Training with Patrick Teahan.
Commissions
I feel honored to be asked to paint commissioned portraits for clients whose loved ones, human or animal, have passed on. These paintings incorporated elements from the etheric world of their beloved as I saw them or was shown by my guides. One such commission was for a client’s beloved daughter in spirit; with my client’s permission, I communicated with her daughter and created a painting based on images I received. Her brother later shared that it was the sole object pertaining to his sister that he would wish to have.
Exhibits
My artworks are graciously held in private collections in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, or have been exhibited in group shows at the former Barbara Anderson Gallery in Berkeley, The Greenlining Institute, and at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art’s Fashionistas Fight Back! Beyond Baroque in Venice, California has kindly hosted a month-long solo exhibition.
The 5 series on this site commemorate the following: my clients’ and my animal companions, living and in spirit, in Beasties; Portraits, Faces highlight faces that can haunt; Ecstatic holds mystically inspired pieces; Archetypes are reflections on just those; Transformed/Flown Away are sold pieces or earlier versions of paintings I wanted to keep close somehow so they are housed here.
Pricing
Small paintings (6” to 21”) are priced between $400 – $800, medium-sized (24” x 36”) between $1200 and $4000, and large paintings (40” or larger) between $5000 – $18,000. Shipping and tax will be added as well. I paint with handmade, highly pigmented oils on linen usually mounted on handmade stretcher bars or birch wood panels.
A happy portion of all art sales and channeled readings is donated to human rights and animal charities. A gentle reminder please that copyright remains the artist’s even after the sale of a work.

I hope each of the paintings works as a talisman, a reflection of Spirit and aliveness.

Personal Readings
As mentioned, I also love offering personal readings, standing in my kitchen or office and channeling mystical information for people on Zoom—it’s like having cosmic conversations over tea. Having largely let myself out of my own personal jail, I am not scared of the darkness and can safely guide those drawn to working with me through exploration of shadow in self and in the world to transmute pain into the treasure of freedom. I love serving my brilliant clientele by transmitting messages from Source and the angelic frequencies to connect them even more deeply with their own answers, wisdom and magic, and with the realms. Our wounding is our gold.

To schedule a Zoom reading, please email me at kat@katayoonart.com with the word “Reading” in the subject line for an appointment in California’s PDT/PST time zone. I offer 45-minute sessions for $150 or 90-minute sessions for $300 payable through PayPal. If payment poses a hardship at this time, please email me and we can work something out. Please come prepared with questions or themes for us to explore; otherwise, I will share the communication notes I usually get ahead of our appointed time. I don’t need tarot cards to read the energies but can draw them if desired.
For animal communication, please email one full-face photo you deem representative of your companion animal before our Zoom session, their approximate age, the names of their guardian(s), and your questions or concerns.
